The Product

Q: What are Stikins made of?
A: Stikins original are made from a high density nylon material and use a specially developed world-class acrylic adhesive.

New Stikins use an advanced vinyl material, the adhesive is new and specially developed for an extra strong bond.

The General Purpose silver label is made of a high quality metalised polymer (often used on the back of computer monitors).

Q: What sizes do Stikins come in?
A: Stikins original dimensions:
Clothing labels - 30mm x 17mm "H" shape
Bag and shoe labels - 30mm x 14mm
Micro labels - 17mm x 9mm

New Stikins come in a universal size of 30mm x 15mm

General Purpose silver labels are 42mm x 19mm

Q: What font and text sizes do Stikins allow?
A: All labels are printed in a standard easy to read font.
Font size will vary depending on number of characters used.
To make sure that you get as many characters as possible, our site calculates the actual character width to work out if the text will fit and adjusts the font size automatically.
If your entry is too long to print then a message will appear when you put your order in the basket.

Q: Can I print special characters onto my labels?
A: We allow any characters in the general ASCII range (up to 168), this means you can have all letters, capital or lower case, numbers, and most European characters.

Using the product

Q: Can Stikins be machine-washed/tumble-dried?
A: Yes, we are proud to say that both new and original Stikins have been thoroughly machine tested. New Stikins have been successfully tested by an independent laboratory using the BS EN ISO6330 wash test procedures for 30 washes at 40 degrees.
You can also tumble dry your garments with no problems – In fact the heat from your tumble-drier with strengthen the adhesive.
General Purpose silver are not designed to be applied to garments, and will not survive a machine wash.

Q: What is the shelf life of Stikins?
A: We generally say that if stored appropriately, the quality of the product is at its best for the first two years.

Q: How should Stikins be stored?
A: We recommend that you store Stikins in a dry place out of direct sunlight, preferably at room temperature.

Q: Can Stikins be ironed?
A: NEW Stikins MUST NOT come into direct contact with an iron – they are made of vinyl and will melt. Original Stikins will be absolutely fine if ironed.

Q: Are our products suitable for the dishwasher/microwave?
A: All our products are fine in the dishwasher. The General Purpose silver labels are METALLIC and MUST NOT be put into the microwave. All other products are suitable for microwave use.

Delivery information

Q: How much does the delivery cost?
A: Nothing extra. All of our prices displayed on this website or in any literature you may have are all-inclusive within the UK.

Q: When will I receive my labels?
A: Items are despatched First Class Royal Mail. The market for name labels is seasonal. We match our production to the seasonal demand as follows:
October, November, December & January :
Despatch within 5 working days.
September, February, March, April, May, June:
Despatch within 3 working days.
July, August:
Same working day despatch for orders received before 12:00pm.

Q: Can I have my labels sent to a different address?
A: Yes, just enter your billing address as separate from your delivery address.

Choosing the right product

Q: How are new Stikins different from original Stikins?
A: New Stikins packs comprise a single-sized, multi-use label unlike the original Stikins packs which include several different shapes and sizes of labels for different uses. New Stikins garment labels are still applied to the wash-care label but the improved adhesive means that they no longer need the ‘wings’ of the original ‘H shaped’ label.

Q: Can I order garment labels only?
A:  Yes you can. If you order a pack of new Stikins then you can use all of the labels for garments if you wish. The original ‘H shaped’ garment labels are only available in the assorted packs.
 
Q: I want to order new Stikins, can I still have General Purpose silver labels without ordering original Stikins?
A: Yes you can: the General Purpose labels are available as a separate item, so just order this pack along with your new Stikins.

Q: What is the best product for people in residential care?
A: In our experience, the ‘White Assorted’ pack of original Stikins has been the most popular option. This year we recommend that you try our new Stikins.

Q: I have several children, can I split a label pack between multiple names?
A: Unfortunately, we are unable to do this. A solution may be to have your surname only printed on the labels so that all of your children can use the same pack of labels.

Q: What information can I have printed onto my labels?
A: You can have anything you want printed on your labels as long as they are normal keyboard characters (including capitals, numbers and most European characters). Some customers choose to print their telephone number, some their children’s class number.
